dc.description The Russian system of bud-pruning pines at the Sinnissippi Forest, Oregon, Illinois. All lateral whorls and buds were removed from the stem, 3-4 feet above the ground n a red and white pine plantation during the spring of 1948. Lateral buds will be removed each succeeding year until the clear trunk is 16 feet long. The purpose is to provide a butt long which is clear of knots. Scale: Howard Fox and Emmett A. Conway.
