dc.description York Forest. An excellent stand of tulip poplar which seeded in naturally under black locust since 1908. This north slope was a cornfield in 1900. The gullies were sealed with brush in which black locust was planted. Two large seed trees of tulip poplar furnished the seed for this excellent young stand. Mr. John Bastian is standing by one of the original locust trees. On the right, Mr. Joseph Polivka is measuring a yellow poplar. Item #5277
