Toxic area 11 miles east of Cambridge - complete failure of grasses and legume. Sept. 16, 1955. Mined in 1951. Scarified and seeded to grass in fall of 1954. Seeded to legumes in spring of 1955. Owner - Mr. Marshall. Similar area owned by adjoining neighbor also total failure, even after liming, fertilizing, and manuring. Operator - Virginia Mining Co. Larry Mamone, field inspector.
