Before she was sold and moved to the West Coast, the "Chippewa" sailed on Lake Huron. She was owned by the Arnold Transit Company and used to carry building materials for the Arnold Lumber Company. Both companies were owned and operated by the family and descendants of George T. Arnold of Mackinac Island, Michigan.
