dc.description The midway, called the Amusement Circle, began growing in the early 1900's. A power plant built in 1906 provided electricity for lights and rides. By 1920, the midway included three roller coasters, a steam-powered miniature railroad, a $10,000 carousel, fun houses, 12 bowling alleys, a penny arcade, games, and wild animal shows.
