dc.description The steel "Ontario No. 1" was constructed by the Canadian Shipbuilding Company in Toronto, Quebec, in 1907. She was initially utilized to transport railroad cars, automobiles, and passengers between Rochester and Cobourg. In 1944, during World War II, she was commissioned to carry pulpwood and coal for the delivery of war merchandise.
