dc.description The steel Candian Steamship Line cruise ship "Noronic" was constructed in Port Arthur, Ontario, in 1913. She operated as the largest propeller type cruise vessel on the lakes and plied from Detroit to Duluth. On September 17, 1949, she burned at her dock in Toronto. Of the 524 passengers boarded at that time, 139 lives were lost; the crew of 171 reported no casualties. The ship was completely gutted by the flames and considered to be a total loss.
