dc.description Vacationers of all ages enjoy the porch at this cottage in Mitiwanga Park. In 1912, approximately 200 vacationers enjoyed the summer at Mitiwanga. Controlled by the Mitiwanga Association, the park had a shortage of clean water from its first days. Water from cisterns and Lake Erie were used for drinking, bathing, and for toilets. An intake 100 feet from the shore supplied water from Lake Erie that was distributed to the cottages from a storage tank.
