dc.description The "Kittanning" was built in 1922 by the New Baltimore Ship Building and Repair Company at New Baltimore, New York. First owned by the Manhattan State Hospital, the wooden ship probably ferried passengers and freight between Ward Island and New York City. After 1931, the "Kittanning" was owned by Mae Lockhart, Detroit, Michigan. The ship burned at Joliet, Illinois in July 1936 while she was traveling to the Gulf of Mexico.
