Description:
The "Algomah" was built at Detroit, Michigan in 1881. She carried passengers between Mackinac Island and Mackinaw City, Michigan. She was the first ice crusher used in the Straits of Mackinac; she was employed year-round until the late 1930's. After her engines and boiler were sold, she was used as a lumber forge. In 1945, the "Algomah" was sunk permanently to serve as a breakwater at Mackinaw City.
