Built in Bath, Maine in 1887, the iron paddle wheel steamer was christened "Shrewsbury." Her owners decided she was too costly to keep in her New York-Shrewsbury River, New Jersey route and sold her in 1893 to the International Navigation Company of New York. Renamed the "New York," she sailed between Buffalo, New York and Niagra Falls. Eventually the "New York" was sold to the Cedar Point Company, Sandusky, Ohio. In 1908 she was towed to the Great Lakes Engine Works, Detroit, Michigan and dismantled. Her engine was installed in the "G.A. Boeckling," which linked Sandusky, Ohio to the Cedar Point resort. The "G.A. Boeckling" was christened and put into service in June 1909; she ran until 1951.
