The "Chippewa" was built in 1900 by Craig Shipbuilding Company of Toledo, Ohio. The Arnold Transit Company, founded by George T. Arnold to transport lumber to Mackinac Island, Michigan, used the "Chippewa" for runs between the Michigan cities of St. Ignace, DeTour, and Soo. The Arnold Transit Company is still in operation [January 2008]. |
