dc.description |
Christened "Pere Marquette No. 20" when she was built in 1903 by the American Ship Building Company, Cleveland, for the Pere Marquette Railroad Company, the ship was renamed the "City of Munising" in 1938 when she was bought by the Michigan Highway Commission. The Michigan Highway Commission used the ship to ferry autos and passengers between Mackinaw City and St. Ignace, Michigan. Less demand for the Lake Michigan passages brought her to Lake Erie in 1943. |
