Christened the "Mackinac" in 1909, the ship sailed the Pawtucket River as the "Woonsocket." On August 18, 1925, a boiler explosion damaged the ship and claimed 47 lives. She was repaired and renamed (her third appellation is not listed) and sailed the Chesapeake Bay area until at least 1941.
