Description:
Marion Shovel Model 60 bites limestone out of the sides of the Wagner Stone Company quarry in Castalia. Marion Steam Shovel's excavating machinery was developed by Henry M. Barnhart. His experience working with steam shovels as a carpenter boss for the Chicago and Erie Railroad helped him design more effective excavators. Barnhart joined with George W. King and Edward Huber to form the Marion Steam Shovel Company in 1884 at Marion, Ohio.
