dc.description More than 80,000 people watched the 1910 flight of Glenn Curtiss from Euclid Beach to Cedar Point. Spectators clustered at both amusement parks and spread along the Lake Erie shore between Euclid Beach and Cedar Point. When Curtiss landed at Cedar Point, 20,000 people surged toward him. He was carried off on the mob's shoulders, losing his jacket and gloves before park police rescued him. Rain, wind, and blowing sand made the return flight slower and more difficult for the 32-year-old pilot. However, his welcome at Euclid Beach was as enthusiastic as that at Cedar Point.
