dc.description Jay Cooke, standing in the boat, helps display a new flag. Rev. Henry Cooke wrote in the Gibraltar record that "our energetic sister [Sarah Cooke Butler] also...made...a new flag for the fishing fleet. She must have put the letters on however late at night at sleepy time for note the "J" in the illustration." Obviously, Sarah intended the flag to read "J C" for Jay Cooke patriarch of the Cooke family.
