dc.description Rye Beach Park was considered a "home" resort. Cottages like these were owned by families who stayed for weeks each summer. Bruns added to his initial 47-acre purchase by acquiring a fifteen-acre parcel filled with shade trees. It was here that he established the Picnic Grove that so many families, churches, and organizations found appealing.
