Description:
The Soldiers' and Sailors' Home had its own U.S.Post Office, left foreground, and "jail," right background. The Guard House provided living quarters for guards and their commanding officers and four cells for unruly members. Members who violated rules were given a hearing before the commandant and could be restricted to the grounds or sentenced to days of duty without pay. Incorrigibles could be dishonorably discharged from the Home.
