dc.description Sandusky, Ohio, carriage maker George Bing studied aviation and then constructed this biplane. Because of design flaws, an overweight engine, and a propeller that was too small, the airplane never left the ground. Even after replacing the engine with one produced by the Roberts Motor Company of Sandusky, Ohio, Bing was unsuccessful in his attempts at flight.
