dc.description Sanduskians were not the only ones impressed with Atwood. Toledoans believed Atwood's fame, his aerial feats, and his plans for an aviation school and an aircraft factory would boost the economy of their city. After only six months in Sandusky, Ohio, Atwood accepted Toledo's offer of buildings for his flying boat factory and aviation school. However, Atwood remained in Toledo only a matter of months. Amid scandal, Atwood departed, leaving behind a trail of unpaid bills and broken promises.
