This group of young men and women may have been attending one of the area Sunday School picnics that were frequently held at Rye Beach. William Bruns successfully promoted Rye Beach Park as an ideal location for church groups. In 1900, admission was 5 cents. Large groups received a discount. The "Sandusky Register" described the park as "the best and most fitting resort for church, Sunday school or common school picnics in the State of Ohio."
