dc.description Wearing a white shirt and sporting a large mustache, William Bruns, owner of Rye Beach Park, poses for this photograph in the refreshment stand. Bruns was a native of Germany who came to the United States in 1878. He married Rosa Dingler. Like Bruns, Rosa was also a German immigrant. The couple had three children. The refreshment stand was just one of several buildings Bruns constructed to better serve his summer visitors. Note the soda fountain on Bruns' right and the ice cream cones on the counter.
