dc.description Notice that the members of the Soldiers' and Sailors' Home seated in the dining hall are dressed in coats. The menu, especially on a holiday, justified the effort. The menu for Thanksgiving Day 1903 included a breakfast of fried ham, potatoes, bread, butter and coffee; a dinner of roast turkey and dressing, cranberry sauce, giblet sauce, baked sweet potatoes, stewed tomatoes, peas in cream, mince pie, fruit cake, cheese, celery, pickles, catsup, bread, butter, and coffee; and a supper of escalloped oysters, milk, bread, butter, tea, and soda crackers.
