dc.description The Northern Wave, her twin Northern Queen, and her sister ship Northern Light were built by The Globe Iron Works of Cleveland, Ohio. The Northern Wave was built in 1889. The Northern fleet carried freight out of Buffalo. The ships were bought by the federal government in 1917 for use on the east coast during World War I.
