The supports of the covered bridge that spanned the Sandusky River at Ballville caught debris carried by the racing flood waters. Rumors circulated that the bridge's abutments had weakend and/or collapsed. Eventually the cost of damage to this and other bridges, roads, and streets in Sandusky County amounted to $95,000.
