dc.description |
Men are using ice hooks to guide sheets of ice down the channel. Ice hooks had a spike on one side for pushing and a hook on the other for pulling. Moving ice was called "live" ice. Ice that had stalled was called "dead" ice. Much physical labor was required to start "dead" ice moving again. |
