dc.description This photograph is of one of Weldon B. Cooke's flying boats outside the Davis Boat Works in Sandusky, Ohio. It was necessary to craft a water-tight fuselage as flying boats were designed to take off and land on water. Fuselages of flying boats so resembled the hulls of boats that workers and aviators often referred to them as hulls.
