dc.description Harry Atwood landing his hydro-aeroplane on Sandusky Bay. Atwood's flying skills, fame, and personal charm captivated Sanduskians. Atwood convinced city fathers to provide a building for his airplane factory, aviation school, and a hangar for his aircraft. He also boasted of producing torpedoes. Residents were certain Atwood "would make Sandusky famous throughout the world" as a center of aviation industry.
