dc.description The photographer captured this image of Harry Atwood just as he was stepping from his Burgess - Wright biplane onto the shoreline of Sandusky Bay. Internationallly famous for his 1911 record-setting distance flights from Boston to Washington, D. C. and from St. Louis to New York, Atwood wanted to give up exhibition flights to build an airplane factory.
