dc.description Children and adults watched George Bing tuning up the engine of his biplane on ice-covered Sandusky Bay. The first to build an airplane in Sandusky, Ohio, Bing boasted to a "Sandusky Register" reporter that his aircraft would "revolutionize aviation" by adding safety features that would keep the plane from rolling over or falling while in flight. Bing's attempts to fly were unsuccessful.
