dc.description A member of the relief committee which formed to co-ordinate rescue and reconstruction during the flood wrote about the "Dry Bridge" on South Front Street: "Water poured nearly to the height of the bridge....brick pavement, curbing and dirt was cut out and carried several blocks...and deposited to a depth of two or three feet."
