An unexpected guest at the picnic on Rattlesnake Island was a white horse. The Henry Cooke family and the Charles Barney family (Henry's brother-in-law) "clustered around it in delight feeding it on watermelon & scraps of cuke...until the horse went nearly wild with joy."
