dc.description |
Memorial Day parades on the campus of the Soldiers' and Sailors' Home ended at the Mound. Members of the Women's Relief Corps had laid a flag on each grave. In 1912, there were 1,219 graves. At the Mound the Home's chaplain offered prayers, a quartet sang hymns, and then the Home's firing squad fired a salute, marking the end of the ceremony. |
