dc.description White visiting Put-in-Bay, members of the Cooke family sometimes explored other areas of South Bass Island, where - according to Henry Cooke -"there are some exquisite bits of scenery." In the exploring, however, Henry's son Russell also discovered Spanish needles (burrs). "[He] was simply covered with them...and spent fully an hour picking them out...."
