dc.description A herd of Jersey milk cows cool off in the waters of Lake Erie near the Kelleys Island shoreline. One of the largest dairy herds on the island belonged to George Becker. Becker established a bottling plant on Kelleys Island in 1917. He marketed milk, cheese, and butter under the name "Island Jersey Farms."
