dc.description Rev. Henry Cooke photographed the C. Dollar Store at Put-in-Bay on South Bass Island. Cooke referred to the proprietor as "The Shoe Man." Cooke wrote in the Gibraltar Record that the "'Shoe Man' has for several years labored hard to keep the captain of 'The Reckless' [a sailboat belonging to the Cooke family] in sneakers."
