dc.description In schools at every level, teachers and administrators are under pressure to demonstrate how effective they are by showing exactly what it is their students are learning. These pressures have fueled campus-wide assessment efforts at schools across North America. Librarians at Oregon State University saw this as an opportunity to bring information literacy into a campus-wide conversation about what all OSU graduates should know. Working directly with faculty and other campus partners, we defined undergraduate information literacy competencies that reflect the links between research, life-long learning, discovery and critical thinking. In this presentation, attendees will hear about our experiences and discuss: *How to identify and develop relationships with key campus partners *How to start campus conversations and keep them going *How to use focus groups to talk to teaching faculty *How to move from general competencies to an articulated IL instruction program.
