Description:
The remarks and the impressions that the author drew from some of Kumaran Asan's most important poems (namely Oru vinapuvu, Nalini, Candalabhiksuki, Cintavistayaya Sita e Karuna, composed between 1907 and1923) when she translated them from Malayalam into Italian, are the subject of this paper. Asan's preferred poetical trends and recurring themes are analized together with the different main characters he outlines in his plots. The structure of the poems is considered, and their features and peculiarities of composition are pointed out. Special attention is given on Asan's innovations in the choice of subject-matters, and in the way in which his characters are presented and psychologically investigated.
