dc.description This paper will examine how dissemination and context have a wide-ranging impact on practice-led research and demonstrate how this has become an issue central to the value of the PhD itself. The environment in which a PhD student is conducting their inquiry has a major impact on the context in which their project is understood. This context has most significance at the end. Where and how the research findings are revealed and to whom, have the clearest indication as to the intention and purpose of the research. This is the point at which the research seeks validation and it is vital that the right people see it, in the right environment, in the right method. Whoever does validate your work and where, has to have relevance to your inquiry, otherwise, the research loses its significance. The relevance of where this research takes place is the topic to be considered. This paper is primarily concerned with highlighting the issues surrounding dissemination of fine art research within relevant contexts making observations specifically in regards to the art institution and gallery models.
