“Diagramming the Book Arts” is a theoretical dissection of the field of Book Arts into components of Word, Image, and Book Structure to help visualize and define the confounding array of work that is labeled Artists’ Books. It is also an attempt to point out, without a value judgment, but a subset of the field of Art known as Book Arts that might best be displayed within Galleries and Museums as opposed to being accessed through Library collections.
