The aluminum powder stabilization comprises collection in bags of the powder carried over in slag grinding and grading operations. The powder is then mixed with gypsum to permit controlled storage in the form of solid blocks. The gypsum forms dihydrate, without decrease in the metallic aluminum, aluminum nitride and sulfur concentrations, in comparison with hydrolysis in water. The hydrolysis gas is trapped, to prevent damage to the environment.
