dc.description Over the last decade there has been a considerable increase of archaeological research in what is known as the "Wine Culture". Its consumption -associated to the ruling class- and elaboration is associated to the Mediterranean cultural exchange of ideas and people from East to West through semite population (Phoenicians and Punics). The complex study of its origins and introduction in the Iberian peninsula due to the lack of written sources, has developed during the last two decades thanks to the discovery and excavation of sites such as L'Alt de Benimaquía (Alicante), Cancho Roano (Badajoz) y Los Villares y La Quéjola , both in the province of Albacete. This allows us to defend that in those early periods (VII-IV centuries b.C.) there was in fact a wine culture legitimated by eastern religious beliefs with a deep ideological value and associated to power.
