dc.descriptionThree young boys assist with the horse- drawn marking plow. The hundreds of teams of horses needed to pull ice harvesting equipment produced large amounts of manure. Young boys were hired not only to lead the teams but also to shovel the horse droppings from the ice into sleds so as to prevent tainting the ice.-
