Publisher: Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center
Description: Charles Morok brought his biplane from New York City for a flying exhibition at the Sandusky County Fairgrounds in Fremont, Ohio, in September 1911. His biplane was powered by a five-cylinder, fifty-horsepower engine made in France. Canvas was stretched over a frame made of spruce and mahogany. Morok, a showman through and through, had invented the "automobile-somersault-in-the-air," a popular attraction at circuses and fairs.
