This conveyor moved ice to an icehouse along the Sandusky, Ohio, shoreline. A planer located near the upper end of the conveyor shaved snow, ice, and dirt from the top of each block. The pile of ice shavings beneath the conveyor was the "waste" produced by the planer. Uniform blocks of ice were more efficiently handled and stored.-
