The picnic grove at Rye Beach Park was an ideal location for summer gatherings. The grove was filled with mature hickory, elm, and sassafrass trees that provided shade on hot summer days. Among the buildings that owner William Bruns constructed in the park were the two bath houses that can be seen in the distance.-
