| dc.description | Farmer Isaac W. Hoover (1845-1941) grew potatoes. He developed and patented in 1885 a mechanical potato digger that was an immediate success because it cut the labor of harvesting potatoes. Isaac Hoover continued to invent and refine equipment for potato farmers, patenting his inventions until he was 92 years old. His company merged with the John Deere Plow Company in 1926. | - |
