| Description: | Flooding of the Sandusky River was all too common in the mid-winter and early spring. Lake Shore Electric craftsmen in the shops in Fremont constructed a special locomotive, Number 444. The car's motors were installed inside the car and high above the water levels - 30 inches in 1912, and 36 inches in 1913. Engine Number 444 pulled depowered coaches through the flooded portion of Fremont. Hooking up Engine Number 444 added only two minutes to the run. |
