Cottage O was originally planned as a restaurant to serve visitors at the Soldiers' and Sailors' Home. It was, however, fitted out as a cottage for male nurses and orderlies. Its distance from the center of the campus made it a quieter home for night shift workers who had to sleep during the day.-
